Iowa State clipped by Colorado, 77-75

The Iowa State Cyclones lead most of the way but couldn’t withstand a late Colorado rally in a 77-75 loss.

Iowa State held a two-point lead at halftime and maintained it for much of the second half, giving them hope for a big upset.

Darion ‘Jake’ Anderson was almost unguardable, scoring 33 points and also grabbing six rebounds.

However, Iowa State also couldn’t find an answer for Colorado’s Alec Burks, who scored 29 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. ( Read More…)

Iowa State can’t keep pace with Kansas, 89-66

The Iowa State Cyclones simply didn’t have the horses to keep up with the Kansas Jayhawks in an 89-66 loss.

Iowa State fell behind by 19 points by halftime and knew they were simply not going to be able to catch the Jayhawks.

The Cyclones actually featured a very balanced offensive attack, with four starters scoring in double-figures.

Scott Christopherson lead the way with 16 points while Melvin Ejim added 13 points and nine rebounds. ( Read More…)

Iowa State nipped by Nebraska, 31-30

The Iowa State Cyclones came up just short in their upset bid of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, falling 31-30.

The lead went back and forth between the two teams all day long, eventually sending the game into overtime.

Nebraska had the ball first in the extra session and scored a touchdown, putting a lot of pressure on Iowa State.

The Cyclones were able to answer with a touchdown as well, but elected to go for the win on a two-point conversion attempt. ( Read More…)

Brackins could be first-round pick in NBA Draft

Iowa State Cyclones power forward Craig Brackins could be selected in the first round of the NBA Draft. With the draft mere hours away, time will soon tell.

Brackins is projected to go anywhere from late in the first round to somewhere in the early second. The difference is huge in terms of money and also the kind of team Brackins may end up playing for.

A late first round pick could mean a reserve role on a team with NBA title hopes while an early second round selection might mean more playing time for a bottom feeder.

Brackins saw his stock fall this year because of inconsistency. He needs the effort to be there every night to be a quality player in the league.
